The Sniper

3.When you light a match it is possible, if their is another sniper around, that he may see you. This gives away your position.

5.By making the other sniper seen as though he had been shot and killed by him
6."He struggled to keep his feet, but was slowly falling forward as if it were a dream." O'Flaherty is saying that it seems fake. that it's not really happening. That it is just a dream.
7.The sniper is overwhelmed with anger and hatred of the war. He is feeling sort of remorseful for killing the Free-Stater sniper.
8.He makes a decision to get out of his cover and go look to see if he knew the fallen soldier. This managed to almost get him killed by enemy machine gun fire.
9.They are both very surprising and you can't tell either of them are about to happen.
